The Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago (CIOGC) congratulates the people of Egypt and all Egyptian Americans on the victory of the first civilian president in its history and the first free presidential election. Dr. Mohammad Morsy has officially been declared the winner of Egypt’s presidential elections, with 51.73% of the vote. This is a historic day celebrating the Egyptian peoples choice and a peoples win.May Allah (swt) bless the Egyptian people as they continue to exercise their right to self-determination. 
“This is a victory of the people against all odds, victory of the future over outdated paradigms and victory of civic engagement over conspiracy theory. For us in the U.S, we have an important election coming up. CIOGC has already started our voter registration campaign. CIOGC will be hiring three fellows who will work within our organizations for voter registration and Get Out to Vote Campaign. I urge you to help them in the elections.
